Open art studios, local shopping, family-friendly activities, and live music will be among the attractions Saturday, October 17, as Spring City looks to build momentum for its new monthly community event.

Spring City Saturday brings together local businesses, artists at Spring City Mill Studios, and borough officials to encourage residents and visitors to explore the downtown area.

The initiative debuted September 19, with another event planned for November 21, as organizers work to establish a tradition on the third Saturday of each month.

Open Art Studios

A centerpiece of Saturday's activities will be Spring City Mill Studios, located at 20 E. Bridge Street, where more than a dozen artists will welcome visitors beginning at noon.

Most participating studios will remain open until 4 p.m., with some artists offering demonstrations or workshops.

The former industrial building is home to painters, photographers, sculptors, and other creative professionals. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet artists, see their work, and explore their spaces.

Local Business Spotlight

Businesses throughout the borough will offer activities and extended opportunities to visit throughout the afternoon and evening.

  • Misfit Hair Studio, located in the Spring City Shopping Center at 51 E. Bridge Street, will welcome visitors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering popcorn and a raffle giveaway.
  • Craig's Cat Cafe, located in Riveredge Square on Riverside Drive, is planning family-friendly activities from noon to 2 p.m.
  • Chaos Piercing, also located in Riveredge Square, will offer walk-in piercings until 7 p.m.
  • Tuned Up Brewery, located on Main Street, will open at 5 p.m. and is planning a pumpkin-painting activity.

Additional Main Street businesses open Saturday include Four Winds Tattoo, open from noon to 8 p.m.; Alisan Road Mercantile's Local Things, open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Punch Buggy Brewing Company , open from noon to 11 p.m.; and Glass Pound Studio, open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Live Music at The Gem

The Gem Music Hall will open early at 5 p.m. Saturday, welcoming visitors for food and drinks ahead of an evening concert.

The venue will host performances by Philadelphia-area rock acts Highfield, Poppy, and The Three 4 Tens/Kat Jagger beginning at 8 p.m.

Visitors can stop in before the concert without purchasing a ticket, but admission will be required to remain for the performances.

General admission tickets are $12 through Friday, October 16, and $15 on the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased here.

Building Momentum in Spring City

Spring City Saturday comes as the borough continues to experience new business openings and investments in its Main Street corridor.

Mayor Adam Alberico said the initiative reflects a broader effort to strengthen the community and support the businesses contributing to its revitalization.

"We have been working hard to build Spring City into a stronger, more vibrant community, and that hard work is beginning to pay off," Alberico said. "More businesses are coming to town, and Spring City is putting itself on the map more and more every day."

He pointed to improvements to Main Street buildings and the arrival of new businesses as signs of progress, including Spring City Coffee, a new cafe expected to open in early 2027. Spring City Hotel's bar and restaurant is also scheduled to reopen Sunday under new management.

"Revitalization doesn't happen overnight, but it is happening," Alberico said. "That's why supporting our local businesses and encouraging community involvement is so important."

While participating businesses have different hours and activities, the overall idea is to give residents and visitors another reason to explore Spring City, discover local establishments, and spend time in the community.
