A new addition to Royersford's Main Street will be unveiled Thursday, November 5, when the Woman's Club of Royersford introduces its "Lady Ram" statue, celebrating more than a century of community service.

The unveiling is scheduled for noon at Ivy House, 600 Main Street, with a reception immediately following the ceremony. The statue's appearance will remain a surprise until the event.

The Lady Ram is part of the Spring-Ford Booster Club's "This Is Ram Country!" initiative, which raises funds and awareness in support of more than 1,200 student-athletes. Members of the Woman's Club donated the statue, using the fiberglass sculpture as an opportunity to highlight their organization's history and contributions to the community.

Recognizing 112 Years of Service

The unveiling will take place on a day officially dedicated to the organization. At its October 27 meeting, Royersford Borough Council presented the club with a proclamation designating November 5 as Woman's Club of Royersford Day.

Council President Anil Dham read portions of the proclamation, recognizing the organization for its longstanding commitment to education, charitable initiatives, and community service.

Founded in 1914, the Woman's Club has spent 112 years supporting local organizations and projects, guided by its motto: "We cannot all serve alike, but we can all serve well."

Club President Maryann Gross accepted the proclamation and reflected on the organization's origins and continued involvement in Royersford.

"In 1914, a small group of visionary women came together with a simple but powerful purpose: to make their community a better place," Gross said.

She explained that the club's early members championed literacy, education, and public health, with their efforts helping establish the Royersford Free Public Library.

Today, the organization continues that work through support for the library, local schools, student scholarships, winter jacket drives, and other community initiatives.

A Statue That Tells the Club's Story

Gross also offered a preview of the meaning behind the Lady Ram's design.

"The artistic drawings that adorn her tell the story of our club's 112 years of service, making her a lasting symbol of our history and our commitment to Royersford's future," Gross said at the council meeting.

The statue was designed by artist Jennifer Bulson specifically for the Woman's Club, incorporating elements of the organization's identity and history. Bulson will attend the November 5 unveiling and meet with guests.

Katharine Nelson, the club's Ram Project Chair, described the process of bringing the statue to Main Street as a meaningful collaboration.

"Bringing Lady Ram from an idea to a permanent place on Main Street has been an exciting journey," Nelson said. "Working with artist Jennifer Bulson to weave our club's heritage into her design made it especially meaningful. We can't wait to share Lady Ram with our community."

Gross said the statue is intended to recognize not only the organization's accomplishments but also the generations of women who have contributed to the Royersford community.

"When you see Lady Ram, we hope you see the women behind her, past and present, who have poured their hearts into the civic fabric of this town," she said.

The Woman's Club invites the public to attend the November 5 ceremony and reception, where guests will have their first opportunity to see the completed statue and meet the artist.
