Spring City residents will have two opportunities to help beautify the borough this weekend, with community cleanup events scheduled for Friday, October 16, and Sunday, October 18.
The first event, organized by Alisan Road Mercantile, will focus on Main Street ahead of Saturday's Spring City Saturday festivities. The second, led by the Spring City Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), will target the trail at Brown Street Park.
Friday: Main Street Cleanup
Alisan Road Mercantile, a general store specializing in locally sourced goods, is inviting volunteers to help clean up Main Street on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m.
Participants will meet at the shop, located at 89 N. Main Street, before collecting litter along Main Street and Bridge Street, between Hall Street and the Schuylkill River Trail.
The event will feature music and glow sticks to make the evening cleanup more festive. Organizers will provide gloves, bags, and buckets, and volunteers are encouraged to gather afterward at Punch Buggy Brewing Company for drinks and conversation.
Children who participate will receive a free pint of milk from the general store.
Organizers are asking volunteers to stay off private property and busy streets and to be mindful of native plants and their surroundings.
More information about the cleanup can be found on its Facebook event page.
Sunday: Brown Street Park Cleanup
The Spring City EAC will host a second cleanup on Sunday, October 18, from 11 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m.
According to Councilor Dylan Hutchinson, who chairs the committee, volunteers will meet at Brown Street Park, located at 268 Brown Street, before walking along the park's trail toward Poplar Street.
Those arriving after 11 a.m. can meet the group along Poplar Street.
The EAC will provide buckets, trash bags, gloves, and litter grabbers for participants.
Both events are open to residents interested in helping keep Spring City's public spaces clean.
