East Vincent Township officials are evaluating whether a roundabout could be part of a future redesign of the Route 724 corridor, an idea that surfaced during a recent Board of Supervisors meeting and prompted early discussion among residents.
The concept remains in the preliminary stages and is one of several potential traffic improvements being explored as part of a broader corridor planning study.
During the board’s March 3 meeting, Township Manager Bob Zienkowski said the intersection of Route 724 and Bridge Street is currently being analyzed as part of the township’s ongoing corridor study. The planning effort is focused on identifying ways to improve traffic safety and flow along the busy roadway.
One option under consideration is the installation of a roundabout, also known as a traffic circle, at the intersection. Township officials emphasized that the idea is still conceptual and would require additional engineering analysis and public discussion before any formal action is taken.
Corridor Study in Early Planning Phase
Township officials said the Route 724 corridor study is being conducted through a planning process tied to a grant program that will require public meetings and the formation of a community task force.
Supervisor Dana Ciaffone suggested the township’s traffic engineering consultant present an overview of the study at an upcoming meeting, including the planning timeline and how residents can participate.
Zienkowski said the township’s traffic engineering firm is expected to provide a presentation at a future meeting outlining the corridor study and other transportation issues currently being reviewed.
