SPRING CITY — The Spring City Emergency Services Committee has recommended Anthony Fiore to serve as the borough’s next emergency management coordinator (EMC). The decision, made during a committee meeting on Thursday evening, Feb. 19, marks a move toward formalizing a position that has recently sat vacant.
Fiore, who works as a district staffer for State Senator Katie Muth (D-44) in Royersford, presented a background rooted in both state-level policy and local emergency response.
During his presentation, Fiore emphasized that Pennsylvania law requires every municipality to have a dedicated EMC. He cited Spring City’s proximity to high-risk areas—including the Limerick Generating Station, active rail lines, and the Schuylkill River—as critical reasons for maintaining active emergency preparedness.
An Advanced EMT and certified EMS instructor, Fiore also recently joined Friendship Ambulance and Liberty Fire Company. His experience includes drafting emergency response plans for high-profile visits by federal officials, as well as coordinating large-scale events for Senator Muth’s office.
Fiore underscored the personal importance of local readiness. He noted that as a first responder, he is committed to ensuring the borough can meet emergencies “correctly, accurately, and effectively.”
Mayor Adam Alberico noted that the role would be "very active," involving the creation of specific emergency plans for borough events such as the Music & Market Festival. The position is a volunteer role and is not expected to incur costs for the borough.
The recommendation now moves to the Borough Council for a formal vote. If approved locally, the appointment must then be finalized by the governor’s office.
