A new Indian restaurant has opened its doors in Spring City, taking over the former Desi Swaad location at Riveredge Square.
Baithak Indian Cuisine will celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, October 11, at 1 p.m. The restaurant is located at 10 Riverside Drive, along the Schuylkill River Trail.
Baithak specializes in authentic North Indian cuisine, offering what its owners describe as bold flavors and warm hospitality.
Spring City Mayor Alberico is expected to attend Sunday's celebration, and the restaurant is inviting residents and families to join in the festivities.
Baithak replaces Desi Swaad, which opened in 2025 and closed on September 27, 2026. In a farewell message shared on social media, Desi Swaad's owners thanked customers for their support and announced that new ownership would continue operating an Indian restaurant at the location under the Baithak name.
"We are truly grateful to our amazing customers, friends, and community for all the love and support throughout this journey," the former owners wrote.
The restaurant is part of the Riveredge Square shopping center, which is also home to Craig's Cat Cafe, The Latin Corner, and Chaos Piercing, Tattoo, and Studio, among other businesses.
